The advantage of image editors is that you can modify your pictures anyway you want, but most of these programs also come with a disadvantage. They may offer a large array of features, but they are difficult to master. If you are looking for an alternative, PicMaster is something you should try. You can use it to retouch images, remove red eyes, enhance your images with various filters and more. Unlike other similar programs, PicMaster is lightweight and it is easier to understand.

Installing the program on your Windows powered computer is not a difficult process. Just download a 1.5 Mb setup kit, run it and follow the wizard's instructions. Once you are done installing, you can enjoy the functionality this application has to offer.

Due to its familiar layout, PicMaster's interface will remind you, to some degree, of other image processors. What differentiates PicMaster from other editors is the fact that it's easier to use. Its toolbar is not cluttered with countless options and you will not spend too much time looking for a specific feature. Pictures can be loaded the conventional way or imported from a scanner, digital camera or webcam.

The loaded images will be displayed on separate windows, within the main interface. You can perform various adjustments, related to an image's colors, gamma, color channels, brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and much more. Comments can be added as text or audio recordings and you may also place watermarks. Options for selecting colors, selecting a brush style, size, setting a different zoom level and batch processing images can be found on two separate windows, which are independent from the interface.

Batch processing images with PicMaster does not mean editing multiple images in one run. If you manage to create a new effect, but you do not want to go over the same steps to apply it again, you can record a macro and apply the effect automatically. After clicking the Record option, on the Batch window, you can start editing an image. When you are done, you must click the Stop button and name the new macro. In this way, you only need to select an image, choose your macro, click the play button on the Batch window and your recorded process will be executed on that image.

Pros

PicMaster features an interface which is easier to understand. It offers most of the tools you would find in other image editors. The software makes it possible to execute complex processes instantly by recording and playing macros.

Cons

When using the trial version, an annoying nag screen will pop up from time to time and you will have to wait for 10 seconds before dismissing it. With PicMaster's easy to understand features, you will be able to adjust any aspect of your images in order to give them a professional look.
